Cotton canvas versus polyester: look past “water resistant”.
The coating can resist moisture while the base beneath it remains polyester, polycotton or cotton. Fibre and coating are different questions—and the artwork deserves both answers.
The simple distinction
One is the fabric. The other is the surface treatment.
“Water resistant” commonly describes the ink-receiving coating applied to the surface. It does not prove that the underlying fabric is cotton, that the weave looks natural, or that the canvas was selected for fine-art presentation.

Do not pay for a slogan. Pay for the material and the work.
A seller should not use “water resistant” to distract from what the artwork is actually printed on. Ask for the fibre composition, weight, surface, finishing and construction.

Strong claim, accurate meaning
Polyester is not automatically unusable; it can suit signage, display and high-volume production. But for our art canvases, it is not the artistic material standard we choose. Water resistance alone does not upgrade it into a fine-art cotton canvas.
